Outstanding among the artists of his generation, Brazilian singer-songwriter and guitarist FRED MARTINS has created a diverse repertoire embedded in the musical tradition of emblematic Brazilian composers. In a contemporary style, his compositions portray a conversation between samba, bossa nova, jazz, blues, rock, flamenco, fado, and other styles. 

Martins has released 7 albums and 2 DVDs, and his latest album – Ultramarino – was released in May/2021. The composer’s talent was recognized by the prestigious “Brazilian Music Visa Award” (Unanimous Jury and Audience Awards – 9th Edition). His compositions have been recorded and performed by renowned Brazilian musicians, including Adriana Calcanhoto, Ney Matogrosso, Maria Rita, Zelia Duncan, and MPB4, to name a few. His songs have also been featured in Rede Globo soap operas and series soundtracks.

He has lived in Europe since 2010 (currently based in Lisbon) and during this time he has been collaborating with many other artists from Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Cabo Verde, UK, and beyond. He has also performed at several international music festivals: “Dias da Música”, “Nossa Lisboa” and “Vila Real Summer Festival” (Portugal), “Música dos Três Continentes” (Russia), “Lula World Festival” (Canada), “Festival TenSamba” (Canary Islands), “Sete Sois Sete Luas” (Cape Verde), “Jazz & Image” (Italy), among other events.
