The Beauty of Brazilian Music by Two of Its Best Performers

Jaques Morelenbaum and Fred Martins share the stage in a new concert featuring the sophistication and sensibility of Brazilian popular music’s great legacy. The musicians came together for the first time for two concerts in Lisbon in 2019 dedicated to the master João Gilberto. The repertoire for this presentation will include contemporary classics as well as a collection of their own songs that are in line with the Bossa Nova style.

Jaques Morelenbaum is responsible for introducing the cello into modern popular music in Brazil and around the world, with his own projects or performing alongside Tom Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Egberto Gismonti, Mariza, Carminho, Sting, among many others.

Fred Martins has distinguished himself as a composer and interpreter in voice and guitar, where he creates a delicate weave between the two elements that, in the end, sound like a single instrument. Besides performing and recording his songs himself, his compositions have been performed by renowned Brazilian musicians, including Adriana Calcanhoto, Ney Matogrosso, Maria Rita, Zélia Duncan and MPB4, among others.
